Approvals Engineer

About the Role

This role is hybrid remote with 60% monthly in-office presence in Mount Prospect, Illinois. (3 days in office per week). Responsible for evaluation, preparation, and completion of new and legacy product agency approval according to applicable UL, CSA, IEC, or other agency requirements. Performs product certification activities with third-party certification agencies through either external testing lab or the internal Approvals Lab. Contributes to internal lab’s acceptance and documentation for new and legacy products for submission under Data Acceptance Programs of UL and CSA.Analyzes current test procedures for internal lab tests. Maintains project databases and certification records. Contributes to drafting and reviewing of product technical documents such as user manuals/labels. Aligns with project deadlines and collaborates with product teams. Supports regulatory compliance and product risk assessment activities. Serves as proxy and backup market entry gatekeeper for US and Canadian launch project approval.Required Knowledge, Skills, Ability, Training, Experience, etc.Associate's Degree in Engineering/Science required, Bachelor's Degree in Engineering - Mechanical or Electrical preferredExperience with evaluation, testing and certification of products according to UL, CSA, IEC, EN, and similar agency standards.Experience with preparing test samples for certification testsAbility to work effectively with cross functional product teams with various cultural backgroundsAbility to discuss and communicate complex information with people of diverse professional backgrounds.Experience with programming, customizing, and setting up test equipment to perform agency tests.
