Development Engineer - Acoustic (f/m/div.)
About the Role
Your contribution to something big:You will contribute to an industrial research project focused on the acoustic development and optimization of heat pump systems. You will combine acoustic testing, experimental measurements, and data analysis to evaluate the performance of appliances and components and support the development of improved acoustic solutions for heat pump applications. Your main responsibilities will be: Acoustic Testing: Develop and execute acoustic tests on heat pump appliances and components to evaluate their performance and correct functioning. Acoustic Measurements & Data Acquisition: Prepare experimental setups, perform acoustic measurements, and collect high-quality data to support technical analysis and development activities. Data Analysis: Analyse and interpret acoustic test results, identify relevant behaviours and trends, and translate findings into clear technical conclusions. Technical Studies & Documentation: Prepare technical studies, test reports, and documentation based on experimental results to support engineering decisions and product development. Acoustic Performance Assessment: Evaluate the influence of new methods, materials, and design solutions on the acoustic performance of heat pump systems. Appliance & Component Validation: Support the validation of developed appliances and components from an acoustic performance perspective through structured testing and analysis. Test Execution: Conduct testing activities according to defined guidelines, internal rules, procedures, and test methodologies. Acoustic Optimization: Contribute to the improvement of heat pump acoustic behaviour by identifying potential areas for optimization based on experimental testing and analysis. What distinguishes you: Education: Master’s degree or PhD in Acoustical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field, with a strong interest in acoustics, vibration, and experimental testing. Physics & Mathematics: Strong understanding of physics and mathematics, with the ability to apply fundamental principles to engineering and acoustic problems. Acoustics: Good understanding of acoustic principles and wave propagation. Knowledge of acoustics and/or psychoacoustics is considered a strong advantage. Testing & Experimentation: Understanding of testing techniques and methodologies, with experience preparing experimental setups and performing tests. Rotating Machines: Understanding rotating machines and their relevance to mechanical and acoustic behaviour. Data Acquisition & Analysis: Experience with data acquisition and analysis, including the interpretation of experimental results. Hardware & Laboratory Environment: Experience working with hardware and/or conducting testing activities in a laboratory environment. Digital Tools: Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and OneNote. Experience with MATLAB and/or Simulink in engineering or laboratory environments. Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a results-oriented mindset and strong attention to detail. Working Style: Proactive and responsible, with the ability to independently organize your work, take ownership of assigned activities, and propose solutions. Teamwork & Communication: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative and Agile environment. Languages: Excellent written and spoken English.
