The shift towards building products is a huge strategic moment for Prosus and the successful candidate will be responsible for building community awareness for Prosus’s products and its strategy. The Head of Product Communications owns how Prosus’s AI products show up in the world: how they are positioned, how they launch, and how the story holds together across press, analysts, customers, and the wider tech community. This is the person who turns what the product teams build into a narrative the market believes. It is a builder’s role. The function is early, so the remit is as much about establishing product communications as a discipline at Prosus as it is about running it. The right person is part product marketer, part storyteller, part launch operator. They think like a product designer: audiences are users, messages are prototypes to test and refine, and the comms function itself is something to ship, measure, and iterate. What You’ll Own Positioning & Messaging - Own the positioning and messaging architecture for Prosus’s AI products the category we’re playing in, why it matters, and why Prosus wins. - Build messaging that works up and down the stack: a sentence for a headline, a paragraph for an analyst, a page for a customer. - Keep product narratives consistent with, and additive to, Prosus’s broader repositioning as a global technology leader. Launch & Go-to-Market - Lead the communications side of product launches end to end: narrative, timing, assets, spokespeople, and the moments that make a launch land. - Partner with product, AI, and go-to-market teams to sequence announcements so each one builds on the last rather than competing with it. - Own the launch calendar and the discipline behind it — what ships when, and what earns a moment versus a mention. Media, Analysts & Influence - Build relationships with the journalists, analysts, and operators who shape how AI products are judged. - Place product stories where the audience actually is — including the new-media landscape (Substack, Medium, independent newsletters, and creator-led channels) where much of the credible tech conversation now happens. - Develop and steward owned channels so Prosus’s products can speak in their own voice, not only through third parties. Cross-functional Partnership - Work daily with product and AI teams who don’t naturally think about communications, and make it easy for them to. - Partner with Group Communications, brand, and GTM agencies to keep product and corporate narratives pulling in the same direction. - Act as the connective tissue between what’s being built and how it’s told. Building the Function - Stand up product communications as a discipline: the playbooks, the launch process, the measurement, the standards. - Define what good looks like and raise the bar for product storytelling across the organisation. What We’re Looking For - 10+ years across technology, product development, communications, or marketing — with real depth in at least one and fluency across the others. - A track record of leading product launches or go-to-market narratives, ideally for technical or AI products. - Proven ability to translate complex technology into positioning that lands with non-technical audiences without losing the engineers’ respect. - Comfort operating at director level: owns outcomes, sets direction, and doesn’t need a brief to know what the story is. Capabilities - Product-designer mindset: treats audiences as users, prototypes and tests messages, ships in loops, and builds the function itself as a product. - Narrative instinct: finds the sharp, true story inside a complex product and knows why it matters, and to whom. - New-media fluency: understands how credibility is now built — Substack, Medium, newsletters, creators, communities — not just traditional press. - Launch judgment: knows what earns a moment, how to sequence it, and how to make it count. - Cross-functional credibility: can hold their own with engineers and analysts, and translate between them. Backgrounds We’d Love - Product marketer or product comms lead from a high-growth tech or AI company who has owned launches. - Communications or brand leader who moved close to product — or a product person who moved into comms. - Founder, early operator, or agency lead who has built a narrative from scratch and taken it to market. - Journalist, editor, or analyst from tech media who has since worked inside a product organisation. Mindset - Builder — energised by an early, undefined function rather than daunted by it. - Commercially minded — connects storytelling to adoption, reputation, and results, not activity. - Current — lives in the AI conversation and knows where it is actually happening. - Collaborative — earns the trust of technical teams and works through them, not around them. Not Required But Valued - An active presence in the new-media landscape — a Substack, a newsletter, a following built on substance. - Speaking experience at product or tech events. - Hands-on ability with content formats — video, audio, visual — even if not the primary craft. - Experience in an investment, portfolio, or multi-brand environment.
