Working across product, engineering, business development, logistics, and operations, the Maritime team develops, tests, deploys, and sustains the Anduril maritime capabilities in a challenging operational environment worldwide. As a leader in the Maritime Division, you must be a technical leader with the expertise to evaluate, qualify, manage, and advocate for an increasing number of sophisticated parallel pursuits. This role is crucial in ensuring that each initiative aligns with the company’s strategic direction and receives the appropriate resourcing, balancing innovation with practical execution to drive the business line’s success. ABOUT THE JOB You will own the Vehicle Management System for a maritime autonomous vehicle. Reporting to the Cognitive Systems Lead, you will design the supervisory software that monitors vehicle health, manages operational modes, responds to faults, and coordinates across all subsystems.The vehicle runs multi-day missions with no operator link, so the VMS is the only thing deciding whether a degraded vehicle presses on, aborts, or surfaces. Writing that logic means reasoning about failures nobody will be awake to catch. WHAT YOU'LL DO Own VMS architecture: health monitoring, mode management, fault response Design vehicle state machines and operational mode transitions Develop fault detection, isolation, and recovery (FDIR) logic Define VMS interfaces with GN&C, energy, communications, and mission systems Manage route planning and casualty monitoring functions Support SITL/HITL testing of VMS behaviors Interface with all vehicle subsystem leads on integration Support at-sea testing and validation Travel up to 25% to test sites REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or equivalent 5+ years of experience in vehicle management systems, flight management, or supervisory control software Experience with real-time embedded software for vehicle platforms Familiarity with FDIR design and operational mode management Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience with AUV, UUV, or UAV management systems Working knowledge of safety-critical software design patterns Experience with C++ or Rust for embedded vehicle software Experience in defense or maritime robotics US Salary Range$191,000—$253,000 USDThe salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only.
